Stone Dominoes Ladies FC fell to their first defeat of the season at home to Newcastle Town at the weekend.
Despite starting strongly and dominating possession in the first half, the strength of the Newcastle defence kept Stone firmly at bay.
The second half saw a few changes and Hayley Mason put Stone in front with a header from a corner. Newcastle responded almost immediately, however, with a long-range effort. Dominoes heads dropped and Newcastle put more pressure on the goal and soon found the back of the net a second time. The last 15 minutes saw Stone dominate possession again and a Newcastle defender headed the ball off the line in the last few minutes to secure the win for Newcastle.
A disappointing result for Stone Dominoes LFC but they’ll hope to bounce back to winning ways this weekend. Player of the match was Jules Kendrick in midfield.
