Stone Dominoes LFC put in a tremendous performance to get another double-figure scoring game last weekend as they thrashed Stafford Town Ladies 10-0.
The Dominoes were solid as a team and dominated much of the play, passing the ball around slickly and making the opposition work. At 4-0 Stafford were awarded a penalty when their striker was pulled down in the box but the striker didn’t test keeper Charlotte Perry as she dragged the ball wide.
The Stone midfield controlled the game and wingers Kerry McCourt and Laura Barker provided some sweet crosses for strikers to finish. The defence – Lauren Ward, Hayley Mason, Bethan Woodings and Simone Kelsall – cut out any attack Stafford threw at them and created a couple of assists from Simone Kelsall playing left back.
Mollie Prime was on fine form to net four goals, followed by Vikki Garner with a hat-trick, Laura Barker netting one, ex-Town players Jules Kendrick and Nat Price rounded up the scoring with two superb finishes. Hayley Mason was player of the match for a quality game in defence.
Stone Dominoes Ladies are at home again this weekend against Kidsgrove LFC, 2pm kick-off at Stone Dominoes, Yarnfield.
Stone Dominoes U16 6 – SAHA Girls 2
Stone dominated the game with Chloe Luty getting a quality hat-trick and Leila Trussler, Leila Dyer and Holly McCulloch getting a goal each. This is another big win for the girls and definitely getting Stone Dominoes on the map for girls’ football. Last season the girls struggled in the Staffordshire County League and with players not enjoying football one bit, manager Chris Davies decided to speak to the parents and they moved leagues. This has given the team a huge confidence boost and kept the girls involved in football. Now they have won two out of two and are gaining in confidence each week.
