Stone Doms LFC prepare for top-of-the-table clash

Stone Dominoes LFC

Stone Dominoes LFC took on Wrockwardine Wood in a friendly on Sunday as they prepared for next weekend’s top-of-the-table clash at league leaders Shrewsbury Ladies.

The visitors sit two divisions above the Dominoes, in the West Midland Premier Division, and gave the Staffs County Women’s League team a tough game. But Stone performed brilliantly to win the match 4-1.

Wrockwardine found themselves 1-0 up in the first half after breaking quickly. However, Stone quickly bounced back and soon began to bag the goals, as well as playing some superb football. Vikki Garner netted twice, with Mollie Prime and Holley Fowell completing the scoring. It could have been more, but Hannah Woolful- Smith’s shot came back off the post.

Player of the match was Mollie Prime, who’s having an incredible season, with 26 goals in 13 appearances so far this season.

Stone Dominoes Under-16 Girls 2 – Shifnal Europeans Under 16 Girls 1

Stone climbed to the top of the table after a dramatic win against Shifnal, with two goals in the last five minutes giving them a last-gasp victory.

The girls had a positive attitude before the game and put in 100%. It was a very close game throughout and Stone went 1-0 down after 20 minutes. The girls kept their heads up and battled on, making the away team work for their lead. With five minutes left, the Dominoes were still trailing 1-0 but just as Shifnal thought they had taken the full three points, up stepped Chloe Luty to get the equaliser with a great goal.

Straight after the Shifnal kick off, Stone were on top form and soon won the ball back, this time Alex Walker netting for the Dominoes and giving Stone the three points and putting them at the top of the league. Absolutely fantastic performance from the girls and a well deserved win. Player of the match was Josie Woodward

Next week Stone take on SAHA away.
