Following last weekends wet and windy weather, the Stone Farmers’ Market has a new date – this Saturday 13th June at Westbridge Park!
As originally planned the now off-schedule market will be held on Westbridge Park to help comply with social distancing guidelines.
The government relaxed their Covid-19 lockdown restrictions allowing outdoor markets from the 1st of June and the team who manage the market have worked hard to allow for a market to take place with appropriate safety measures in place.
Measures in place for the market include:
- There will be 4m between each Marquee
- The trader area will be cordoned off from the public
- There will be a sign on each stall asking customers to respect the queuing systems.
- Each marquee will have a designated queue
- There will be all the relevant Covid signage throughout the site
Initially, the market had been set to return on Saturday 6th June, however, at short notice organisers had to call it off because of the forecasted high winds. Stafford Borough Council advising that the marquees were more vulnerable to the strong winds as they were spaced further apart to meet Covid-19 safety measures, as opposed to when they are tethered together in the High Street.
The borough council has ruled out a return to the High Street because of the difficulties in ensuring social distancing would be adhered to. The council put forward Westbridge Park as an alternative venue – but with strict measures introduced to comply with Government advice.
The Farmers’ Market in Stafford is set to go ahead in the town centre on Saturday 11 July.
