Are you looking to get involved in organising events for Stone Festival? Head along to their Annual General Meeting which will relect on the success of the 2023 events, distribute more than £2,500 to local good causes and look to the future.
Taking place on Tuesday, the 17th of October, at 7pm, in the “classroom” meeting room at the Walton Community Centre, the AGM is open to everyone to attned – especially those looking to volunteer.
Tim Joyce, Co-Chair of the Festival told A Little Bit of Stone:
“We’ve banked all the takings, and settled all the bills, Stone Festival 2023 made a surplus of about £2,600.
At the AGM, we shall be sharing out this surplus to 12 local organisations to help with the good work they do in our community. Representative of each group have been invited to the AGM to tell us a little about what they do, when they come to collect their cheque.”
Do you want to get involved?
What’s key for these community events moving forward, is to ensure there are volunteers and new committee members to bring in fresh ideas and renewed enthusiasm.
Anyone who would like to help plan and organise events for the 2024 festival are invited to go along to the AGM.
Tim told. us:
“Unfortunately we have some current committee members stepping down – some moving away from the area and some no longer able to commit their time to the festival.
We really do need some more volunteers to join the committee – especially if we are to resume the large Carnival Day event on Westbridge Park, and the “motorised” Parade.”
On the AGM agenda will be the plan to appoint a Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary – so that the “new” committee can start making plans for Stone Festival 2024.
