Stone firms invited to public sector event

The County Showground

Businesses in Stone have been invited to meet buyers from the public sector at an event at the County Showground.

The half-day gathering aims to encourage links between businesses and public organisations in Stafford Borough and to “dispel the myths” about supplying the public sector.

Buyers from the Ministry of Defence, Staffordshire Police, Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, Stafford Borough Council, West Midlands and Staffordshire Probation Service, Staffordshire University and Stafford College will be at the event, which runs from 9am to 12pm on Wednesday 18th May in the Ingestre Suite at the Showground.

There will be seminars on doing business with the public sector and business support agencies will give advice and information on how they can help.

Stafford Borough Council economic development officer Mary Timmis said: “This event is for local businesses who are looking for new customers and have wondered what it would take for them to supply the public sector.

“It is not about major tendering opportunities, but about their everyday purchasing requirements and what a business needs to do to be considered as a potential supplier”.

Places at the event, which is organised by Stafford Borough Council and Think Local 4 Business, can be booked by contacting Mary at Stafford Borough Council on 01785 619584. There will be a fee of £15 (inc VAT) per person.
