Among the groups that can apply are community and voluntary groups, registered charities and social enterprises.

Previous recipients of the grants include the Stone Lions Club, Age Concern Stone and District and Barlaston Community Group for a scheme to combat loneliness.

Dr Tracy Redpath, Corporate Business and Partnerships Manager at the borough council, urged local groups not to miss out on the opportunity of additional funds.

She said: “We are looking for projects that benefit local residents, bring about a lasting benefit to the wider community or help increase an organisations sustainability.

“The money can also be available to those running Covid-19 specific projects that support residents and communities who have been affected by the pandemic.”
