The transformation of Stone’s future heritage centre is nearing completion, with major refurbishment work on track to finish by the end of July 2023.
The Heritage Centre at Crown Wharf is part of an exciting project supported by Joules Brewery. The project also includes the Crown Wharf public house and the Crown Wharf Theatre. The aim is to bring new facilities to the town and regenerate an underutilised area of Stone next to the canal.
“I’m delighted with the excellent progress being made on this exciting Town Council project, and I look forward to seeing the results of the final stage of development work,” said Councillor Rob Kenney, Chairman of the Council’s General Purposes Committee.
The heritage centre is located in the former Fire Station on Crown Street, in the heart of the town. When operational, the centre will provide a home for showcasing the town’s rich history and heritage.
With the major structural work nearing completion, the next step will be fitting out the centre’s interior spaces ready for the heritage centre’s exhibits.
