Stone Hockey Club Ladies 1st team continue to pile on the pressure for a top three league finish aftera 2-1 victory over Lichfield 2nds.
The Enson Lane side put Lichfield under pressure from the off and following a good team attack, top goal scorer Annie Holmes fired a perfectly placed shot from a tight angle to take Stone 1-0 up into half time.
Lichfield came out of the interval fighting with some strong attacking play but the well-drilled Stone defensive line up kept any attack at bay. Holmes grabbed her second goal following a quick Stone break which found Megan Sanders in an attacking position on the left. She laid the ball off perfectly for Holmes to clinically slot the ball past the Lichfield keeper.
Lichfield narrowed the margin following a well finished strike from a short corner but Stone managed to hold on to take victory.
