Stone lifeguards tackle triathlon

Two lifeguards who work at Alleyne’s Sports Centre in Stone have been placed in the top 50 at a national triathlon competition with a difference.

Zoe Franks who came 38th and Cassie Whalley who placed 50th beat 257 other contestants to claim the top 50 spots.

The two women who work at the borough council-run facility took part in a series of three challenges – CPR, swimming and theory, which included questions on lifeguard skills.

Thirteen other lifeguards from Alleyne’s also took part in the event held in June which saw the sports centre place 26th nationally.
