The Members of Stone Lions Club (CIO) have been actively supporting the residents of our local area for over 40 years and are probably best known in Stone for their Mobility Scheme and annual Prostate Cancer Screening.
Stone Lions President, Chris Handley, has reached out following our “Reasons to be cheerful” volunteer promotion. She told A Little Bit of Stone:
We are a group of ordinary people who believe that by working together we can make a big difference in our community. Although we are part of an international organisation, our heart is based firmly in Stone.
The Covid 19 pandemic has given everyone the opportunity to think about what is important to them and it is not surprising that Family and Community appear at the top of the list for many people. This has been demonstrated by the number of active volunteers who have offered their services in so many ways over the last 12 months.
As we slowly come out of lockdown there will be many needs in our community and Lions will require help to identify these needs and find the best ways to support them. If you have been a Volunteer and experienced the sense of fulfilment you feel when helping someone else, maybe you are now looking for a way to continue supporting those in need.
