A man from Stone has been given a suspended prison sentence after a police raid uncovered cannabis being supplied to children in Stafford.

Tyrell Riggon, aged 24, from Stone, was among two men arrested when officers from Staffordshire Police’s Child Exploitation Team forced entry to a first-floor flat on Thursday 22 May this year.
Inside, police found cannabis, cash, mobile phones and other items linked to drug supply. Riggon was seen throwing a phone out of a window as officers arrived – it was later recovered from the garden below.
At Stafford Crown Court last week (Wednesday 29 October), Riggon was sentenced to nine months in prison, suspended for 18, and ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work after admitting possession with intent to supply a Class B drug and acquiring or possessing criminal property.
His co-accused, James Poyser, aged 27 and from Stafford, was sentenced yesterday (Monday 3 November) to six months, suspended for 18, and given a rehabilitation order after admitting the same supply offence and failing to surrender to police or court bail.

PC Gina Barcroft, from the Child Exploitation Team, said:
“I hope this acts as a warning to those who think it’s acceptable to sell cannabis that they will not go unpunished.
“In this case, we acted on intelligence that some of those being supplied with the drugs were children.
We will continue to work with partners to protect children in our communities and bring offenders to justice.”
Police have urged anyone with information about drug dealing to contact them on 101 or via Live Chat on the Staffordshire Police website. Anonymous reports can be made through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
