Stone Motorcycle Club revs back into life!

The organisers of the first meeting of the resurrected Stone and District Motorcycle Club (SDMCC) say they were “simply astonished” at the number of people who attended the first meeting earlier this month.

Over 80 people turned out on a wet and dreary night on 14th January to the first meeting at Wetherspoons.

Jim Hanvey, who organised the first meeting, said: “The delight expressed by people about bringing the club back to life was very real. Some 30 membership forms had been printed for folk to give personal details and tick options to have the club arrange as activities and ride outs etc, but it was quickly realised that the club should set up its own Facebook page to spread the word and that was done by a willing volunteer on the night. The membership form can be downloaded from the Facebook page.

“It was agreed that the club should meet on the second Tuesday of a month and thus the next meeting will be on 11th February in Wetherspoons at 8pm with the hope that the enthusiasm can be channelled into constructive but social and fun activities! Suggestions for other meeting venues can be discussed.

“So a huge thank you from the organisers and the club looks forward to another friendly meeting in February!”
