Stone Motorcycle Club revs into action again

Motorcyle enthusiasts in Stone have been invited to a meeting in January to re-establish the town’s motorcycle club.

The club has fallen on the wayside in recent years but enthusiast Jim Hanvey wants to get it revved up again and he’s holding a meeting at Wetherspoons on Tuesday 14th January at 8pm for anyone interested in motorcycling.

Jim said: “Stone has a rich motorcycle and motorcycle racing heritage. Not many people know that in our midst we have TT racers, British championship racers and road racers. The current Darley Moor Sidecar champion also lives in Stone.

“If, like us, you would like to learn more of this heritage and indeed help others know more, and perhaps raise the profile of motorcycling in Stone, please come along to the meeting.”

How I wish I still lived in Stone. I’d be there. Back in the 1970s we used to meet up at what is now Langtreys. The late, lamented “Cam Followers” were quite a formidable crew.
Happy days . . . Looking forward to seeing some photos.

it is unbeliveable how many different groups have been formed over the years and i would like to include your group in the Timeline.

      thanks,Harry Hall

Having seen, and photographed some of them, I can confirm that the racing motorcycle talent in Stone, both established and up & coming, is unbelievable.

The idea of starting a local motorcycle club is an excellent idea…..
