Stone OA u13 girls’ success

Stone OA U13

It’s been a season of success for the u13 girls’ team at Stone Old Alleynians FC following their league championship success.

With three games still to play at the time of writing, the girls have romped away with the Staffordshire Girls & Ladies League U13 Division 1 title.

The success is all the sweeter after the team lost well over ten players just two years ago, at the end of u11s, when they decided to leave to start a new team at another club. Only three girls remained at the Club. Undefeated, the committee quickly got together and came up with a plan to keep the team going.

Martin, Jim, and Steve all came forward to run the team, and with those three at the helm, they managed to get enough girls to put together a team, many of whom had not played before, for the start of the 2022-23 season.

In their first game together at 9-a-side, the team signed their ninth player on the morning of the match, seven of whom had never played in a match before!

Watching them closely in that first season, it was great to see their first goal and then, their first win. The celebrations were absolutely brilliant, more so considering where they had come from just a few months earlier. Towards the end of the season, they started to string some good results together, and things looked good for the new season.

This season, 2023-24, the team started strong and has been at the top from the very start, leading the way from the outset.

Chairman Richard Jones said

“The girls have done magnificently since forming just two years ago. Although the team have performed very well on the pitch, more importantly, this team just seems to have fun all the time and get great enjoyment from playing together”.

Well done girls, it’s very well deserved!
