Stone Old Alleynians 0 – Walsall Wood 5

Stone Old Alleynians crashed out of the Staffs FA Vase in the first round to a very good Walsall Wood side on Saturday 20th October.

The visitors, riding high in second place in the Midland Combination Premier, a level above the Old Boys, generally dictated the game throughout. Even so the home side held out for the first 25 mins before they were hit on the break for the first goal. Unfortunately misplaced passes in vital areas of the pitch were to prove their undoing as Wood added two more goals before the interval.

In the second half the Alleynians played better and seemed to be holding their own, without creating many chances, but two late goals made for a disastrous result for the hosts.
