Eccleshall 0-4 Stone Old Alleynians
Wednesday night’s pre-season curtain raiser saw the Old Boys make a positive start with a four goal victory over Eccleshall at Pershall Park.
Debut goals from Dean Buckley and Dan Farrelly, along with a brace from Danny Heard ensured a good night’s work for Smith’s men, as the new manager began to implement a new style of play.
“It was a good performance from us and was great to get the first game under our belts. We used 19 players and still have four or five to come back in so the squad is looking competitive, there are things to work on of course but I am pleased with the start we have made.”
“We have quality going forward and looked sharp, as we saw from the goals” said Smith. “All four goals were excellent finishes rounding off good team moves, and we’re working hard on our defending to give us a platform to play from.”
Next up for the Old Boys is a trip to Stafford Town next Tuesday evening, with the club hoping to build on Wednesday night’s performance.
The club has also this week set up its own online store, so if anyone is interested in buying club gear it can be purchased fully embroidered via the clubs section of the kit locker website or via the link below:
