HANWOOD 1 – STONE OLD ALLEYNIANS 3
Stone Old Alleynians completed their season with an excellent win at Hanwood. Bob Askey’s young guns, more than matched their more physical opponents and put an end to a run of 9 straight wins for Hanwood.
Stone went at the hosts from the off and forced an early corner, which resulted in Carl Dibden hitting the post and Dickie Hewitt having the follow-up cleared off the line. Danny Heard had a shot just clearing the bar before Hanwood started to force the Old Boys back and a cross-shot flashed beyond the far post. Carl Evans, for Hanwood, broke clear but skewed his shot wide before the Alleynians took the lead, with half an hour gone. Hewitt had a shot blocked and there was Matt Thomas to put the loose ball into the net. A few minutes later Heard put Thomas clear to expertly clip the ball past the keeper. He completed a brilliant hat-trick in 10 mins, when he went clear again to dummy both the defender and goalkeeper, before placing the ball into an empty net.
Half Time:- Hanwood 0 – Stone Old Alleynians 3
The second half was spent with the visitors content to soak up the home teams pressure and although they got into some promising positions, Adam Heath was rarely troubled until with 10 mins left Ben Houlston pulled one back for Hanwood and although they had a good chance to reduce the arrears further, in the end the Old Alleynians ran out comfortable winners.
