Rob Hughes from Crown Street Garage in Stone was in Anglesey last weekend rallying in the ANWCC Championship.
After two days – and one night- of racing, Rob finished first in his class and fourth overall, ably assisted by co-driver Kev Butler from Stone.
After a wet first day, Rob was lying fifth overall and first in class at the half-way point overnight. A sunnier day two saw the surface drying and another good day for Rob. Despite one small problem with the car, which was quickly fixed, he ended up fourth overall and first in class.
Rob thanked Kev Butler from Stone (KB Windows) for co-driving, Rob and Yvonne from CSG and all his friends who went along to help and support.
Congratulations to Rob and Kev, another example of fine motorsport talent in the town. Last month, Stone’s Julian Jones won the Heart of England Rally Championship, while Stone motorcycle racer Andrew Lowe won the Darley Moor road race championship for the fifth time. Stone also has truck racing star Dave Jenkins competing again in the British Truck Racing Association championship.
