Stone Remembrance Parade and Service details

2016 Remembrance ParadeDetails of the 2018 Remembrance Parade and Services have been released by Stone Town Council.

This years parade, together with Services of Remembrance at the Cenotaph in Granville Square and later at the Parish Church of St. Michael and St. Wulfad, will take place on Sunday 11th November 2018.

The arrangements follow the same pattern as previous years: –

  • 10.10 am – Parade Personnel to assemble at the bottom of the High Street.
  • 10.30 am – Parade to proceed along High Street to the Cenotaph.
  • 10.40 am – Presentation of Wreaths
    Persons laying wreaths (including any not on the Order of Presentation) should kindly report to Mr I Prescott, the Parade Marshal, during the assembly in the High Street, to be briefed on the wreath-laying ceremony.
  • 11.00 am – Two Minutes Silence and Service of Remembrance.

All those laying wreaths will be called forward before the parade reaching the top of the High Street and asked to stand near to the War Memorial to streamline the laying of the wreaths.

At the conclusion of the Service at the War Memorial, the Parade will proceed to the Parish Church of St. Michael and St. Wulfad via High Street and Church Street led by Stone Scout & Guide Band. The Colour and Standard Bearers are requested to line up at the entrance to the Church, and when instructed enter the Church, present their Colours, and then take the seats reserved for them.
The Colour Parties will receive back their Colours during the final hymn and after the Service the Parade Personnel, led by Stone Scout and Guide Band, will assemble and proceed, via the High Street to Market Square. The Parade will then dismiss at the top of the High Street.

Earlier the customary Service of Remembrance will be held at the Walton War Memorial, Whitemill Lane, Walton, commencing at 9.50 am and you and/or your organisation are cordially invited to participate. Persons attending should kindly assemble at the War Memorial by 9.40 am
