There’s an overnight road closure on Monday 20th December, from 8 pm until 6 am, affecting the A34 as works continue on a new junction to the Redhill Business Park and new housing development.
The closure between the Redhill (Beaconside) roundabout and Whitgreave Lane is needed so that contractors can install a temporary junction arrangement for Redhill Business Park. The housing developer is funding the new road layout.
On Monday, the 20th December, the A34 at Redhill will be closed in both directions from 8 pm until 6 am the following morning.
Any vehicles needing to access Redhill Business Park will be escorted from the A34 northbound only. All other property access will be maintained from the A34 junction with the A51 southbound.
On Tuesday 4th January, there will be a further closure on the A34 southbound between Marston Lane and the Redhill roundabout between 8 pm and 6 am. Additional night-time closures will be needed in January and these will be advertised in the new year. This scheme of works will be completed by the end of January 2022 and signed diversions will be in place.
Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for highways and transport David Williams said:
“This junction arrangement will provide temporary access to the new business development at Redhill which will bring hundreds of jobs to Staffordshire.
“Next week’s closure is scheduled when the road is at its quietest though we understand a considerable number of vehicles use the road at these times and so advise people to allow additional travel time to follow the diversions.
“This programme of works will be completed by the end of January. We’d like to thank people for their patience and understanding until then.”
