Douglas Macmillan Hospice is looking to recruit schools from Stone and the surrounding areas to take part in their exciting ‘Expressions of Care’ school project.
After a successful launch in 2015, which saw 20 schools take part, pupils from across various Key Stages created a piece of art which described the Dougie Mac.
The main aim of the project is to educate young people about the Hospice via interactive classroom sessions which can be run in schools by a hospice representative.
Students will then collectively produce a piece of artwork in the form of a collage, incorporating what they have learned, capturing their feelings and emotions about Hospice care.
Expressions of Care is a tailor-made programme developed by the Hospice, which can be delivered across all Key Stages with links to the curriculum, especially SMSC (PSHE), RE, Art and Creative Writing.
Last year, St. Dominic’s Priory School took part in the project, with Beresford Memorial CE First School being voted in top place by the panel.

“The project is a great way to dispel myths about the Hospice and also educate pupils about the work we do for the local community.” [/box]
There is no cost to schools for taking part in this unique and rewarding project.
The artwork will then feature as part of the Expressions of Care Art Exhibition at the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery throughout the summer, before a high profile judging panel select a winning piece of artwork at a celebration presentation in mid-September.
