Three year ten students from Alleynes Academy will be taking to the stage in Sheffield at the end of March as part of the National Theatre Connections Festival.
Each year the National Theatre commissions ten new plays for young people to perform, bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting writers with the theatre-makers of tomorrow. Over 300 youth theatre companies and over 6,000 young people from every corner of the UK are producing a Connections play this year. The plays are performed at local theatres, regional theatres and then finally one production of each play will be transferred to the National Theatre Festival in London.
Dylan Galloghly, Tendo Katabalwa and Ryan Herbert have already performed the play, ‘Find a partner’, twice at the Regent Theatre, Hanley, as part of the Regent Theatre Academy. The Academy provides aspiring young performers with the opportunity to step into the spotlight, make new friends and learn theatre skills.
The boys were first got the acting bug when they attended the after school drama club run by Victoria Gotham at Walton Priory Middle School. Dylan and Ryan also enjoyed performing with the Stone Revellers in last year’s Christmas panto.
