With the easing of lockdown restrictions, Stone performing arts academy Rooftop Studios is set to open their studio doors to host three fantastic workshops over the Easter break.
Numbers will be strictly limited, and COVID-safe measures will be in place, but the workshops will offer youngsters the chance to have fun and make new friends while honing their performing arts skills.
On Tuesday 13th April, the first workshop will be a ‘Holiday Activity Day’ aimed at 3-12 year olds. With fun being the order of the day, youngsters will learn new skills and make new friends. The session runs from 9.30 am – 3.30 pm and cost £25 per child.
Wednesday 14th April will see West End star and Olivier Award nominee, Cleve September, lead two sessions – 12-1.30pm for ages 7-12 and 2.30 pm – 4 pm for ages 13+; where he’ll share song and dance routines from the hit West End shows he’s appeared in – including Hamilton, Jesus Christ Superstar, Annie Get Your Gun and more – before answering pupils’ questions at the end. Priced at £10 for Rooftop Students and £15 for non-students, this is a fantastic opportunity to learn with a professional West End performer.
Another West End star – Stone born and bred Alex Mellor – will lead the ‘Grease’ workshop on Thursday 15th April. Alex, a Rooftop student from when she was 3 years of age, went on to train at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts. She has now carved a glittering stage career which has seen her nominated for a Broadway World Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Rosie in ‘Ushers the Front of House Musical’. Alex will guide students through songs and dance routines from Grease and the other shows she’s appeared in before hosting a Q&A at the end. Sessions run from 12pm – 1.30pm (ages 7-12) and 2.30pm – 4pm (ages 13+); priced at £10 for Rooftop students and £15 for non students.
Studio Director, Laura Keeling, told A Little Bit of Stone:
“We can’t wait to get back into the studio and our Easter workshop programme will offer the perfect chance for kids to get back into the swing of things while learning new skills.
We are so excited to have fantastic guest coaches join us in the form of Cleve and our very own alumni Alex, and feel truly blessed to have such fantastic industry connections who are happy to share their skills and experience with our students.”
