Stone Town Conservatives, one of ten local branches that make up the Stone Constituency Conservative Association, have now completed 40 videos supporting local Stone businesses.
The video series has been put together to help Stone businesses bounce back from the almost complete shutdown of retail and other business activity since lock-down.
In a press release Stone Town Conservatives sent to A Little Bit of Stone they gave their reasons for creating the videos:
“We realised from the earliest days of lockdown restrictions that many Stone businesses would be hard hit. Some were forced to close for weeks or months, leaving the few ‘essential shops’ allowed to stay open with the challenge of sustaining our local community, a challenge they rose to magnificently.
The Stone Town Conservatives team, wanting to act quickly and effectively to help rekindle residents’ interest in our local Stone businesses, developed the programme of videos under two themes: #DownOurHighStreet to promote those in the centre of town, predominantly retail, and #StoneBusinessShoutOut in support of the wider local business community. These themes form the twin business pillars of Stone Conservatives’ strategic plan to #RealiseStonesPotential.
The video programme running on the Stone Town Conservatives’ Facebook page has been a great success, with local businesses publicly thanking the Stone Town Conservatives for successfully bringing in new customers and raising local awareness through tens of thousands of online video views spreading the message that Stone is open for business.”
Steve Walley, leader of the Stone Town Conservatives team explains:
“It’s been incredible to meet and help so many of our local traders and other businesses as they get back on their feet after this terrible period. We’ve heard reports from businesses such as Mo’s Deli, that their video immediately brought new high-spending customers into the shop, while the Royal Exchange pub were surprised and delighted that their bookings were even boosted by a new customer from as far away as Stourport who had seen their video!”
“But our local businesses are far from being out of the woods yet,” Steve cautions, “which is why we’re going to continue running the video programme for some time yet. In the meantime, we’re working on other initiatives in different areas to make sure we help Realise Stone’s Potential. If you are a local business owner and would like your business to be featured, get in touch with us through our Facebook Page @StoneTownConservatives”
