Stone Town Council returns to independent control

Ian Fordham takes the Stonefield and Christchurch ward seat following the departure from the council of Councillor Lynne Bakker-Collier.

Mr Fordham who stood as  a Stone Independent candidate against Trevor Mardling of the Conservatives and Pat Conlong from Labour.

With just over a 14% turnout for last Thursdays election (15th September) the count was as follows:

  1. Ian Fordham – Stone Independent – 291 votes (49.74%)
  2. Trevor Mardling – Conservative – 219 votes (37.44%)
  3. Pat Conlong – Labour – 75 votes (12.82%)

The win now tips the 18 council representatives into a 10 / 8 split between the Stone Independents and the Conservatives.
