Join Stone Library’s “Marvellous Makers” Summer Reading Challenge starting Saturday, the 6th of July! Spark your child’s creativity with books, fun activities, and exciting rewards.

This summer, Stone Library invites children to join the “Marvellous Makers” Summer Reading Challenge, brought to you by The Reading Agency in collaboration with Create, a leading charity dedicated to bringing the creative arts to those who need it most. This year’s challenge is designed to spark children’s imaginations and fuel their creativity through the power of reading. The vibrant character illustrations by Natelle Quek and the lively Marvellous Makers logo by Lizzie Everard promise to make this year’s challenge visually engaging and fun.
How It Works
Children aged 4-11 will complete the challenge over three library visits:
- Visit 1: Sign up and receive a starter pack, bookmark, and the first set of stickers. Choose any three books to begin the adventure.
- Visit 2: Return the first three books and borrow three more. Collect the second set of stickers.
- Visit 3: Return the final three books to complete the challenge and receive a certificate, medal, and the third set of stickers.
Mini Challenge
For our littlest readers, the Mini Challenge is a universal offer for all pre-schoolers. Each time a pre-schooler reads a book, they collect a sticker to add to their special card. It’s a wonderful way to introduce young children to the joy of reading.
Launch Event at Stone Library
Join us for the grand launch of the Summer Reading Challenge at Stone Library on Saturday, 6th July. The day will be packed with exciting activities:
- Face Painting: From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Just 50p per child.
- Free Lucky Dip Sweet Box: Every child gets a chance to pick a sweet treat.
- Drop-In Craft: Make your own sponge waterbomb for just 50p per child.
- Lego Play: From 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, dive into a world of creativity with Lego.
This is a fantastic opportunity for children to explore new worlds through books, make new friends, and engage in creative activities. We look forward to seeing you and your children at Stone Library for a summer filled with imagination and fun.
