It’s a busy weekend as always in Stone. Here’s just some of what’s going on in and around the town over the next few days…

LYMESTONE BREWERY 20:20 SPRING BEER FESTIVAL
On Friday 18th and Saturday 19th March Lymestone Brewery are holding their Spring 20-20 Beer Festival – that’s right, 20 ales and 20 ciders/perries will be on offer! There’s live music on both nights, as well as the rugby on the Saturday afternoon. Tickets are £5 from the brewery and include your glass and first half pint. After that, all drinks are £1.50 per half. Doors open at 7pm both evenings and at noon on the Saturday afternoon.

ALL THE FUN OF THE FAIR
The Stone Festival spring funfair is at Westbridge Park all weekend, from 6pm to 9pm on Friday; 2pm to 9pm on Saturday; and 2pm till 6pm on Sunday.

STONE CRAFT AND COLLECTIBLES MARKET
It’s the third Saturday of the month, so it’s time for the High Street craft market. Lots of stalls selling a huge range of crafts. After you’ve dropped from all that shopping, why not have a drink or a bite to eat in the town centre before having a mooch around some of Stone’s fab independent businesses?

STONE SOUL NIGHT
If you fancy getting on the dancefloor this weekend, there’s a night of Nothern Soul classics at Oulton Village Hall on Saturday 19th March from 7.30pm to midnight (no admission after 11, though). Admission is just a fiver.

BRITISH SCIENCE WEEK AT THE WORLD OF WEDGWOOD
Within the museum’s collections there are a plethora of science-related objects, including the famous Wedgwood Pyrometer, experiment books and Wedgwood codes and formulae. Each ‘Science Snippet’ will last around 15 minutes and will include an explanation of the object’s function and importance and questions and answers. Visitors will also be able to handle and examine the objects for themselves.

CEDAR AND ROSE NEW SHOWROOM OPEN DAY
Stone joinery and furniture specialists Cedar and Rose are opening the doors to their brand new Whitebridge estate showroom with an open day on Saturday 19th March. If some home design projects are in your diary for 2016 then it’s worth popping in to see them!

STAFFORDSHIRE WARGAMING GUILD
If you’re into Dungeons & Dragons and other roleplaying and tabletop games like it, you should definitely head for the Crown Hotel on Sunday evening for the Staffordshire Wargaming Guild night, from 6pm till late.

SHIRE HORSE SOCIETY NATIONAL SHOW
See the world’s largest gathering of Shire horses at the Staffordshire County Showground on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. More than 200 horses will gather from across the globe to be put through their paces in hand, in harness and ridden

LIVE MUSIC
If live music’s your thing, there’s lots of it this weekend in Stone as usual:
At Granvilles, you can see party band The Fanatics on Friday night, with Matrix Club Matrix and their club classics on Saturday evening.
Singer Mel Christi will be performing at The Talbot on Saturday night.
Jacque Rabbit are live at The Swan on Saturday night.
And there’s live music every Sunday at The Red Lion on the High Street

CAPABILITY BROWN SUNDAY SCENES TOUR
Just down the road at the Trentham Estate, you can take a walk with a member of the gardens team on Sunday to discover the story behind the restoration of Trentham Gardens and to have a seasonal look at what’s happening in the gardens. Places are limited and are available on a first-come, first-served basis from 1pm.
