Current and previous members of Stone Youth Community Centre came together over the weekend to join in the centre’s 50th anniversary celebrations.
There were lots of activities and performances, and lots of old photos from over the years from the Station Road centre.
Stone Town Council members Cllr Philip Jones and Cllr June Price were on hand to see first hand what the community centre had to offer local, young residents. Cllr Jones also unveiled a plaque with Ann-Marie McLaughlin commemorating the anniversary.
Performing to friends and family were young rock band The Next Generation, and W.H.Y (Walton Hall Youth) dance group (pictured below).
The Walton Hall Youth dance group is designed for youngsters aged between 14 and 25 who have learning difficulties but is also open to other youngsters too. The dance group, who have been going for a couple of years now, get together on a Friday night 7-9pm at Stone Youth and Community Centre. Katie Broadway – seen in the middle with a white shirt – is a volunteer helper who also lead the dance group.
