The month of May will see Stone Youth Theatre holding open auditions in their quest to find talented actors, singers and musicians to take to the stage in their production of popular musical Rent.
Hot on the heels of the group’s critically acclaimed inaugural production of ‘A Chorus Line’ at Hanley’s Mitchell Arts Centre, which received glowing notices earlier this year, SYT is offering local peformers aged 15-23 the chance to star in what is destined to be another blockbuster show. If you can sing, act dance – or even have the versatility to manage all three – then why not come down and showcase your skills?
Open auditions are scheduled to take place at SYT’s main rehearsal base, Stone’s Rooftop Studios performing arts school, throughout May.
Studio director Laura Keeling says: “The auditions are open to everyone. While previous stage experience would obviously prove beneficial, it is certainly not a prerequisite for anyone wishing to participate. That said, our SYT members are a talented bunch, and competition will be tough.”
“The plan for the auditions is to have a full day’s worth scheduled for Sunday 3rd May, with further ones arranged via appointment. This is a very exciting time to be part of SYT. We had a great audience response from ‘A Chorus Line’, back in February, and I know from speaking to members of the cast how much everyone enjoyed themselves during rehearsals and the performances – hopefully this next production can be even better!”
Audition hopefuls must be aged between 15 and 23. For information and enquiries, call 01785 761233 or email info@rooftopstudios.co.uk
