Collectors were out across the town in the run up to Remembrance Sunday, from the High Street shops to supermarkets, and the final figure has now been confirmed at £34,482.61.

Local appeal organiser Tracy Hall told A Little Bit of Stone,

“Please may I take the opportunity to thank every single person who has supported this year’s Poppy Appeal campaign either by volunteering their time or by donating money.

“You may remember that I took on the challenge of being a volunteer Poppy Appeal Organiser having never doing anything like this before.

“I was amazed with the total last year however this year we have completely blown that amount out of the water.

“We as a community came together to raise a total of £34,482.61.

“There are too many people to individually mention here but a special thank you goes out to fellow volunteers who manned a stall for me.

“Please contact me if you want to help next year.

“Many thanks, Tracy.”

The annual appeal continues to draw strong backing in Stone, with familiar faces returning to help each autumn and new volunteers joining in. Anyone interested in supporting next year’s effort can leave a comment on our post and Tracy will get in touch.
