Stone’s Rooftop Studios taps its way to over £670 for Children in Need

Students, parent and staff from Stone’s Rooftop Studios took part in a whole week of fun activities to raise funds for the BBC’s Children in Need appeal – raising over £670 along the way!

Throughout the week, students each donated £2 to the fundraising pot to attend dance and drama classes in their pyjamas, with Pudsey himself dropping in to surprise students in the studio’s Stage Academy classes on Saturday. The highlight of the week, however, was the Tapathon on Sunday, which saw 32 Rooftop tap dancers – ranging in age from 5 to 55 years – join other tappers across the nation to perform a choreographed routine to Take That’s ‘Out of Our Heads’, in an attempt to break the world record. Pudsey Bear himself joined in with the Rooftop effort and cakes and refreshments were sold to spectators to boost funds.

Studio director, Laura Keeling, says:

“We love getting behind Children in Need – it’s great to have fun while raining funds for such a worthy cause, and the Tapathon is always a huge hit. Our tappers certainly outdid themselves this year and we must say a huge thank you to Miss Verity Ann Caddy for organising the day and teaching the tappers their routine. We’re now keeping everything crossed that this year’s Tapathon smashed the World Record!”

The studio’s fundraising efforts don’t end here – Laura and the team have a series of events and fundraising activities planned in the coming months to help generate funds for Stone’s new Crown Wharf Theatre project, which will see the studio able to put on shows in its hometown rather than travel to Stoke theatres.
