Summer by the seaside as talented Stone youngsters land professional acting roles

Stags and hensFive young actors from Stone are heading down to the Norfolk seaside town of Sheringham this summer to star in a stage production of Stags & Hens.

Phoebe Reynolds, Libby Birtles, Alice Read-Haynes, Alex Walton and Charlie Allen Smith will join the 12-strong cast of the Willy Russell play as part of Sheringham Little Theatre’s summer season during August. The five all have links to Stone’s Rooftop Studios performing arts school – Libby, Alex, Alice and Josh are all current or former members of the school’s Stage Academy and Charlie teaches LAMDA drama classes at the studio alongside Nick Earnshaw, who will direct the play. Nick says:

“There are a lot of young characters in Stags and Hens so it made sense to bring older members of my Rooftop Studios groups who are all very talented up-and-coming performers and who have also won many medals in their drama exams.

“I’m finalising casting now but the Rooftop contingent provide a very strong core and we are all hugely excited to bring our version of this classic to the stage.”

Studio director, Laura Keeling, says:

“We are hugely proud of Libby, Alex, Josh, Alice and Charlie – our aim is to furnish students with the skills they need to make it as a professional performer should they wish to pursue a career on the stage, and they have all proven they have what it takes. We’d like to wish them and Nick the very best as they head down to Norfolk for their run – break a leg, guys and we can’t wait to see you in action!”
