Sunshine Saturday – what a brilliant day in Stone!

Thousands of people packed into the High Street on Saturday - brilliant!

What a fantastic day!

The sun was shining (at last), thousands of people were in town and this year’s Food and Drink Festival burst brilliantly into life on Saturday. The High Street was simply packed with people and, at times, it was difficult to move down the sides of the market stalls. The hustle and bustle was just brilliant.

After the downpour of Friday and the worst possible start to the big festival weekend in terms of the weather, you could feel the collective sigh of relief at the return of the sun.

Over at Westbridge Park, the gourmet marquees site was just as busy. Organisers had brought lots of straw in to the site to help soak up the sodden ground and it really worked.

Fears that the site would be a muddy Glastonbury today proved unfounded, thank goodness.

Local band Murphy's Marbles were playing live

Huge thanks to Richard Stevens, Jill Hood and every other Food & Drink Festival volunteer, whose hard work and dedication has created an event that everyone in the town can be proud of.
