Louise Cockburn says she was”overwhelmed” by the police response and the support of the Walton community.

Louise’s son Brandon, who turns six later this month, went missing after he had been playing in their front garden in Churchill Road, Walton, just as it was getting dark. Luckily, he had wandered to a nearby house – something he has never done before – and was found after an hour’s frantic searching. But for Louise, who has three other sons, it was the “worst hour of her life”.

Louise said: “I was so frantic because I was aware of two cars driving past the house at the same time he went missing. My heart sank. It all happened so fast. The hour felt like a week.

“I would just like to say a huge thank you the police, family, friends, neighbours and people who I didn’t even know who helped in the search. It was the worst hour of my life. I can’t thank the Walton community and all the police who helped to search enough. I’m proud to be living in the community I live in. The speed at how fast everyone was out searching was amazing. It has touched me so much, and I want everyone to know how grateful I am.

“It was a very distressing time and a very overwhelming time to be reunited and have a big fat cuddle with Brandon, who was totally oblivious to what had gone on. The police all worked so fast and so hard to find Brandon. I hope people I haven’t been able to thank will read this and know how grateful I am for each and every one of them.”
