The Swan’s immensely popular charity auction and Christmas buffet takes place this Sunday (13th December) from 12.30pm right the way through to 6pm.
As always, the pub will be raising money for local charities, this year’s being Newlife, for local disabled and children with life-limiting illnesses, and Cats Protection, which is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray, unwanted or homeless moggies.
There’ll be festive musical entertainment at regular intervals throughout the course of the afternoon from the resident brass quartet, who’ll be performing a selection of favourite carols. Altogether now – fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiive gooooooooooooooold riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiings! Nine festive ales will also be on the pumps to quench your thirst.
Tickets are an absolute bargain at a mere £10, with a festive buffet lunch. If you would like to go along and skip the lunch, then there’s no need to buy a ticket.
[box type=”shadow” ]The Swan’s Alexandra Hemmings tells us: “Everybody is welcome on the day to come and support and help raise much needed funds. Remember, tickets are only if you would like the buffet, with all the proceeds going to the charities. In addition to the auction, there will be a tombola with lots of festive goodies to give away, a raffle for a firkin of Priory and a keg of Carling, and much more. “[/box]
Tickets for the raffle are available now priced £3, along with the buffet tickets, but hurry!
There’s still time to donate gifts, no matter how big or small, even if you are unable to make the event on the day but would like to help. Rest assured everything will be gratefully received. If you have a particular skill, why not offer your time or services?
Alexandra has requested for any items able to be donated to be dropped off at the Swan or call the pub on 01785 815570.
You can find details of the Swan’s Yuletide gig list on our Calendar page, some great acts lined up to take you right through to New Year’s Eve, culminating in an ’80stastic way to bring in 2016 courtesy of the terrific duo Back To The Future. Tickets are just £3 and include a glass of bubbly at midnight.
