Thinking of leaving teaching? A new support network launches in Stone

Stone Teacher Event

For many teachers, the idea of leaving the classroom can feel daunting. Whether it’s uncertainty about what comes next or the fear of stepping away from a lifelong career, the transition can seem overwhelming. But what if you didn’t have to figure it all out alone?

Starting this February, Sarah Capewell and Claire Rushton-Plant, both former teachers who have successfully navigated career changes, are launching a monthly in-person event at Mishka’s in Stone. This gathering is designed to provide support, coaching, and honest conversations for teachers exploring life beyond the classroom.

A space for open discussion and real support

Sarah and Claire understand first-hand the emotional and practical challenges that come with moving away from teaching. That’s why they’ve created a space where teachers can:

  • Connect with others in a relaxed setting over coffee and cake
  • Gain insights and inspiration from those who’ve made the leap
  • Talk openly about the challenges and fears of leaving the profession
  • Explore new opportunities and consider the next steps with expert guidance

“This event is about bringing together like-minded teachers who might be feeling stuck or unsure about what’s next,” explains Sarah Capewell. “When I was thinking about leaving, I wished I’d had a space like this – somewhere to talk, to ask questions, and to hear from others who’d already taken that step.”
