One of Staffordshire’s top chefs is opening his first restaurant in Stone.
Richard Cullen is leaving his head chef role at the Spot Gate to open Cullens at the former Oriental Garden site in Radford Street. The restaurant is expected to be open at the end of October.
Richard won Staffordshire Young Chef Of The Year in 2006 and Staffordshire Master Chef in 2008 and again this year. He also appeared on BBC’s Masterchef The Profesionals in 2009 and was a finalist in the Gordon Ramsey scholarship competion 2008, as well as making the top 10 in this year’s Roux Scholarship competition. Richard has worked at The Dorchester London, Gordon Ramsey at Claridges and Hibiscus in Ludlow.
He is one of Staffordshire’s brightest culinary talents – and is delighted that Stone will be home to his first restaurant.
Richard said: “Me any my wife Kara are getting everything ready to open at the end of October. We can’t wait. We’re both so excited. I grew up in Stone, so it’s amazing to be opening my first restaurant here. We’re focusing on modern British and French cuisine and we’re going to create a restaurant that Stone can be really proud of.”
Richard will be showing off his skills – and some of the food you can expect to see at Cullens – in the Stone Food & Drink Festival demonstration kitchen on Westbridge Park on Saturday 5th October at 12pm.
