Spectators wait for the cyclists to arrive in Stafford Street (NC)

Some of the world’s top cyclists zipped through Stone on Sunday on the second stage of the gruelling eight-day Tour of Britain race.

The stage started and ended in Stoke-on-Trent and the 100-mile race celebrated the centenary of the city. But Stone residents had a chance to see the spectacle as the cyclists took part in a sprint finish that saw them pass down Stafford Street before heading down Lichfield Street and Lichfield Road towards Sandon.

It was great to see so many people, many waving Tour of Britain flags and cheering the cyclists on as they whooshed by! Huge thanks to Nicholas Carter (NC) and Julie Sorrell (JS) for the brilliant photos.
