A fundraiser with a very personal reason behind it will take place at Bod on Stone High Street this Friday.
Tracey Hand, who has lived in the town for more than twenty years, is shaving her head to raise money in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society – in memory of her mum.

A local story shaped by family
Tracey grew up in Stone and still has family here.
Her mum had been living with Alzheimer’s and dementia and died recently.
Those months left a mark on the whole family and Tracey wanted to do something that felt rooted in the place she calls home.
Her son said the head shave came from wanting to honour his grandmother and to support others facing the same illness.
Choosing Bod felt natural to Tracey, a spot she knows well and where she feels comfortable.
The head shave will take place at 6 pm on Friday 12 December.
Support from Bod
Staff at Bod shared a message about the event, saying:
“One of our lovely customers Tracey will be shaving her head to help raise money for Alzheimer’s Society next Friday at 6 pm.
Over 900,000 people in the UK are affected by Alzheimer’s and we are incredibly proud to support Tracey in raising some money for a brilliant cause, which we know is close to her heart.”
Anyone who wants to show their support is welcome to call in on Friday.
Raising funds online
A Facebook fundraiser is also running, with a target of five hundred pounds. https://www.facebook.com/donate/1565841044759682
Tracey’s son wrote that “my mum is shaving her head to raise money after the recent loss of my grandma due to Alzheimer’s and Dementia” and that any donation will help.
Money raised will go to Alzheimer’s Society, which offers support to families living with dementia and funds research into treatment.
For Tracey and her family, the event is a tribute as much as a fundraiser.
People can donate online or join her at Bod on Friday evening.
