Passengers travelling from Stone Station this festive season are being advised by London Northwestern Railway to check their journeys in advance.
As Christmas markets attract crowds and engineering works ramp up, services are expected to be busier than usual, particularly on key routes.
Travel disruptions and service changes Stone residents travelling to destinations via the West Coast Main Line should note:
- An amended timetable will be in place between Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
- Services will end earlier than usual on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
- There will be no services on Christmas Day or Boxing Day.
- Rail replacement buses will operate on some routes, including Stafford to Crewe and beyond.
- On 27th December, replacement buses to Crewe will arrive and depart from Crewe Alexandra Football Club on Gresty Road.
Additionally, services to and from London Euston are expected to see a significant increase in passengers due to the Midland Main Line closure for upgrades between 21st and 29th December.
Plan ahead to avoid delays Jonny Wiseman, customer experience director for London Northwestern Railway, shared advice for passengers travelling this Christmas:
“Services to and from London Euston are expected to be very busy, so customers travelling over the festive period are encouraged to travel before Christmas Eve and after 2nd January where possible.
Due to engineering works, rail replacement services are in place on some days for certain routes, so I’d recommend checking journey planners before setting out and ensuring you leave plenty of time to travel.”
