
A man in his 20s has tragically died following a single-vehicle collision in Norton Bridge, near Stone.
Emergency services were called to Eccleshall Road, near Izaak Walton Golf Club, at around 11:20 pm on Wednesday, 12th March. One vehicle, a blue Vauxhall Corsa, was involved.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. His family is now being supported by specially trained officers.
A spokeswoman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said:
“We were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the B5026 at 11.15pm. We sent a specialist paramedic and a paramedic officer to the scene.
On arrival, ambulance staff found a man. Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed deceased at the scene.”
Road closure and police investigation
Following the accident, Eccleshall Road remained closed for several hours overnight and into the morning while collision investigators examined the scene.
Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses and are urging anyone with information or relevant dash-cam footage to come forward.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said:
“We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the incident or who may have any information that could assist our inquiries.”
