Two men have been arrested in Stone on suspicion of offences under the Protection of Badgers Act.
Police were called to a wooded area “on the outskirts of Stone” just before 6.30pm on Sunday 3rd March after a report of suspicious activity at the site of some badger setts. Officers attended and located a pick-up type vehicle nearby.
The occupants, a 46-year-old man from West Yorkshire and a 51-year-old from Derbyshire, were arrested and the vehicle was seized. The men remain in custody for questioning.
A Staffordshire Police spokesman said the force is committed to tackling wildlife crime by working with partner agencies and that it continues to encourage rural communities to report suspicious activity.
Anyone who suspects badger baiting or the disturbance of setts is asked to report it to Staffordshire Police on 101.
