In 2010, A Little Bit of Stone published its first stories as it looked to fill a gap in local news – today we celebrate 13 years since the first story appeared on this website.
Throughout our history, we’ve always strived to provide a trustworthy news platform that celebrates the town we’ve personally called home since 2005.
I still feel incredibly humbled when I hear the lovely things people say about ALBOS and what it means to them. This year I’ve been on Radio 4 shouting about our town, taken part in a university study on local news and met some incredibly dedicated other local news producers.
“Community” is one of the key things I hear from people and visitors to our town. On the whole, Stone people are welcoming, caring, thoughtful and kind. ALBOS gives me an incredible insight into some of the amazing people working and volunteering in our local community.
As we celebrate our birthday I want to give a huge shout-out to the people who support what we do. ALBOS is self-funded with support from advertisers who sponsor and support our website, Facebook subscribers who contribute a small monthly fee and the people who click the button on our website and buy us a virtual coffee.
Also, a huge thank you to everyone who sends us news, reads our website – newsletter or social media, comments and shares our content. It makes what we do feel worthwhile when people interact with it; so many thanks to each one of you.
Finally, I have to thank my family and especially my wife. Juggling ALBOS commitments whilst being a husband and father and having a full-time IT consultancy business is something I couldn’t do without LIsa’s support.

Just heard you on Radio 4 so thought I would check out your website – well done! It’s really hard work – I did something similar when we lived in London – really satisfying, and great to feel you are contributing to the community and part of it, but its Hard Work and never ending, you are always on duty, for fear of missing someone/something out! You are doing a great job.
