Vere Carlin – Conservative Party

The fifth response we received to our candidate questionnaires came from the Stone Conservative Association on behalf of their candidates. They have forwarded our questionnaire on but have supplied their own statements from their website. We’ve asked a few times for the candidate questions to be returned so that we can present our readers with a common set of responses…..to date we’ve not been able to secure them so we’re publishing what we’ve received.  Should we receive responses to the candidate questionnaire we will update.

All candidate responses can be found linked on our candidate page

Stone is where my wife and I have enjoyed living and working for over 30 years and where my family grew up. Having recently retired as a consultant surgeon at the Royal Stoke Hospital, I feel I can offer my time to further the development of the place and the county which we have come to love so much.

This is a first for me, applying for elected public office. So I am a complete novice “a newbie “. As such, it is impossible to say where my skills and concerns will be best applied, if elected.  I feel my knowledge and skills currently lean towards an interest in local health issues, with the three other doctors in my family always ready to contribute their views on the 21st century NHS. However, I keep my ears to the ground regarding issues in Stone, and am aware of most of the local concerns and dilemmas.

I also have my own views about the continued process of rejuvenating and improving our town and local environment. If you offer me your support on May 2nd, I will fight long and hard for the issues which matter to us all, at Borough level.  All the significant developments in Stone in the last few years have been due to the involvement of Stafford Borough Council, and I would very much like this to continue.
