Video: Jerusalem comes to Stone

Stone Revellers

Stone Revellers are staging the multi-award-winning Jerusalem by Jez Butterworth at St Michael’s Hall from 10th to 13th September.

Jerusalem opened in London in 2009 and has been a sensation, receiving rave reviews in the West End and Broadway.

It’s set on St George’s Day and the morning of the local county fair. Johnny “Rooster” Byron, local waster and modern-day Pied Piper, is a wanted man. The council officials want to serve him an eviction notice, while his son Marky wants his dad to take him to the fair, Troy Whitworth wants to give him a serious kicking and his mates want his ample supply of drugs and alcohol. The play makes frequent allusions to Blake’s eponymous poem from which its title is derived.

It’s a fresh, exciting play for the Revellers to take on, and it’s great to see the group challenging themselves and their audience. This could be the first Revellers show to carry a warning of strong language throughout!

Tickets are already selling well, so act now if you want to see it on 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th September at 7.30pm. Tickets are available now from Home & Colour in the High Street or by calling 01785 817307.
