The next phase of the £1 million highways scheme on the A34 Walton Roundabout will begin on Monday, the 17th of July.
The next phase of the Walton Roundabout scheme sees Staffordshire County Council’s highways teams will be resurfacing the A34 Fillybrooks/Walton Roundabout and the A520 Stafford Road. To ensure the work can be carried out safely, overnight road closures from 8pm to 6am will be in place from the 17th of July, for five nights and again from the 8th to the 15th of August.
Drainage, kerbing, footway and road resurfacing along the B5026 Eccleshall Road will continue until around mid-September with crews working six days a week including Saturdays. A one-way road closure will be in place from the 24th of July for six weeks, and overnight closures will be used to complete the carriageway resurfacing during September. Signed diversions will be in place throughout the works for all closures.
David Williams, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Staffordshire County Council, said:
“This is a really important scheme for the area which will help to prolong the life of the road and deliver smoother journeys for drivers.
“Good roads are important for residents, motorists and, of course, the economy and it is important to invest in keeping them safe and well maintained. This is why we recently announced an extra investment of £5 million in pothole repairs, on top of an extra £30 million investment in larger repairs and resurfacing of roads and junctions over the next two years.
“This phase does require a number of road closures to make sure the work can be done safely; however, we have scheduled these in during the school holidays when the roads are quieter to help minimise disruption. As ever, our crews will be doing everything they can to minimise any inconvenience, and I would like to thank people in advance for their co-operation.”
Further details on the scheme and the diversion route are available on the One.network website.

Can you please open bud lane on to walton estate? The road are causing enough traffic

Yes good shout Chloe – no need for the Walton estate bus lane restrictions once school holidays start, and much more dangerous forcing rat run traffic through the residential Walton Manor housing estate to get into Stone for the next 6 weeks….
But the bus lane camera is a County Council cash cow and it won’t be removed/switched off as no forward or joined up thinking from the Council…
