Wanted man, Daniel Allott, arrested in Burton-on-Trent

Third man has been arrested in connection in the murder of Connan McLeod in Stone on Saturday morning.

Detectives in Staffordshire are thanking the public for their support during the search for Daniel Allott, who was wanted for questioning about the murder of Connan McLeod in Stone in the early hours of Saturday morning after he was arrested by police this afternoon.

Detectives launched the murder investigation after emergency services were called to Whitemill Lane, Stone at twenty past midnight to respond to reports of a 22-year-old man with a serious stab wound. Sadly, despite the efforts of the paramedics, it was confirmed that the man had died at the scene. The man who died was Connan McLeod, from Stone, a post-mortem has since confirmed that the cause of death was a stab wound.

Two men who were arrested early on Saturday have now been released on police bail whilst the investigation continues and detectives are now questioning the third male who was arrested in Burton-on-Trent this afternoon.

We have been working around the clock since the early hours of Saturday morning to investigate the tragic death of Connan. We want to thank the public for their support with the appeal for information about this investigation. We issued the appeal to find a man in connection with the incident late on Saturday afternoon and the Facebook appeal alone reached nearly 200,000 people. We believe that this support has contributed to this latest arrest.

Our work continues and an important part of this is supporting Connan’s family and the wider community affected by this incident. We continue to urge anyone with any information or concerns to get in touch. Uniformed officers continue to patrol the area talking to local residents.
