Weather does not beat the Cadets

Army Cadets from Stone joined over 600 other Cadets and Adult Volunteer Instructors from across the County for their week long Annual Training Camp.

This year’s camp was held in Warcop in the beautiful surroundings of the Cumbria countryside. Upon arrival the cadets were broken down into training groups so they could immediately start what would be a very intense training week.

Despite the Summer weather being unusually unkind this year with heavy persistent rain the cadets were able to enhance their existing skills and more importantly learn new skills to help them progress once back within their detachments.

The cadets some as young as 12, took the weather in their stride and carried on regardless, with some of the cadets receiving commendations for their overall effort and high spirit.

With a range of Military subjects being taught it was important that the camp was fun and therefore the cadets were encouraged to take part in other evening activates such as Paintball, Clay Pigeon Shooting and even Archery.

As tradition Staffordshire and West Midlands Army Cadet Force provides the cadets (and Adults) the opportunity to wind down on the penultimate day with “Day Out” which was this year held at Blackpool Pleasure Beach where they were provided with a free wristband for all the rides.

If you would like to know more and get involved come along on a Monday or Thursday night to your local detachment on Newcastle Road or why not attend our Open Day on Saturday 6th September.
