West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway operator West Midlands Trains, has responded to the changing needs of its customers following the coronavirus pandemic by launching its new flexible ticket offering, Flexi-Travel.

The new Flexi-Travel ticket allows commuters to make 10 return journeys on the same route within one calendar month, as the nation continues to work from home after lockdown, with some returning to the office part-time. This is the equivalent of someone commuting to work in the office two to three days a week.
The Flexi-Travel ticket represents an enticing prospect for passengers as journeys are not time-restricted, with road traffic already at 86% of pre-lockdown levels. The convenient and accessible ticket also offers a 5% saving compared with buying return tickets.
Lawrence Bowman, deputy managing director at West Midlands Trains, said: “With recent research indicating a change in work patterns and people splitting their working week between home and office, this ticket represents an affordable solution for our customers. Flexi-Travel is a fairer, flexible ticket which responds to these major changes and provides the best value for part-time commuters.”
Flexi-Travel is available to purchase from staffed tickets offices at stations. It is available on all West Midlands Railway routes as well as all London Northwestern Railway routes in and out of London. All tickets must have the same start and end stations.
West Midland Trains continues to thank its customers for responsible travelling during summer.
Lawrence comments: “We can’t thank our customers enough for all their efforts during this time, maintaining distances whenever possible, buying tickets online, travelling at quieter times and allowing extra time for journeys – and most importantly wearing face coverings at all times (unless exempt).
“We will continue to run as many trains as we can, with as many carriages as possible to maximise space on board. Strict cleaning procedures are in place on trains and at stations, using the latest antiviral equipment and techniques and hand sanitisers at our bigger stations.”
